Update on City's backflow test, 15 August 2023

Summary: The MPE ABCD (annual backflow certification discount; don't you just love it) Project is back in action and we need eight more MPE neighbors to save an additional $20.

MPE Backflow Test back in action, but selectivism still an issue.

In reference to the last blog about the MPE annual backflow certification discount project, (MPE ABCD Project), "Update on City's backflow test recent SNAFU"...

... we met with WP Director of Public Works Michelle Guelker, and she explained the appearance of backflow test notices with due dates before 30 September. The long version is in our email to the Director confirming the MPE ABCD Project (in .pdf).

Short version is our MPE discount program is back on, with no penalties until after 30 September. Just make sure you are on the list below. (Current list at this MPE webpage.)

And if you are not on the list, just complete the sign-up at this MPE webpage.

Those MPE residents on the list are paying $75 per house (10 to 39 houses - $60 + $15 city fee = $75 per house).

We have thirty two (32) neighbors on the list, but with just eight (8) more MPE neighbors, we will save another $20. (40+ houses - $40 + $15 city fee = $55 per house). Remember about half of the houses in MPE do not do Facebook, so chat with your neighbors as you stroll.

We still have the issue of selective application of the annual backflow test, not only in MPE but throughout the City; we spoke to Council Contreras and he said he would look into it. We will stay on this issue and update you as we receive info from the City
