Animal Shelter. The Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter is funded by both the City of Weatherford and Parker County, but the operation is strictly under the control of the City of Weatherford.

Leash Law. "There is a countywide leash law in Parker County, meaning all dogs must be contained to your property or on a leash at all times within the county. Any dogs not on a leash or contained within their property are subject to being impounded and taken to the Weatherford / Parker County Animal Shelter in Weatherford."

Article 2.01 General Provisions >

Sec. 2.01.001: Definitions > Restraint. An animal is under restraint under the following conditions >(3) It is secured by a leash of at least five (5) and not more than ten (10) feet in length and of sufficient strength to control the animal while the animal is being walked

Sec. 2.01.013: Restraint of animals > (a) It shall be unlawful for an owner or person in control of an animal, other than a cat, to fail to keep the animal under restraint at all times as defined in this chapter.

Chapter 2 > Article 2.01 General Provisions. Domestic animal. Includes livestock, caged or penned fowl [including chickens] other than animals belonging to the class Aves, order Falconiforms and subdivision Raptae, and normal household pets, such as, but not limited to, dogs, cats, cockatiels, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, rabbits, fish, or small nonpoisonous reptiles, or nonpoisonous snakes of a species which does not reach a length greater than six feet (6’).”

ARTICLE 2.03 Dog and Cat License > Sec. 2.03.001: Required; application; license; fees; tag; records; rabies (a) License required. It shall be unlawful for any person to own, keep, harbor or possess any dog or cat over four (4) months of age within the city without first obtaining a valid license for said animal as provided in this article. Upon payment of the applicable license fee, the license is valid for one (1) year from the date of the most recent rabies vaccination.

City of Willow Park > High Weeds & Grass > Ordinance 381-96, adopted 16/Jan/1996 "It shall be unlawful for any person, owner, agent, occupant, or anyone having supervision or control of any lot, tract, parcel of land or a portion thereof, occupied or unoccupied, within the city, to suffer or permit grass, weeds or any plant that is not cultivated to grow to a greater height than twelve (12) inches on an average, to grow in rank profusion upon such premises."

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person, owner, agent, occupant, or anyone having supervision or control of any lot, tract, parcel of land or a portion thereof, occupied or unoccupied, within the city, to suffer or permit grass, weeds or any plant that is not cultivated to grow to a greater height than twelve (12) inches on an average, or to grow in rank profusion upon such premises.

(b) No person shall permit grass, weeds or any plant that is not cultivated to grow along the sidewalk or street adjacent to the same between the property line and the curb, or, if there is not a curb, within ten (10) feet outside that property line, to a height greater than twelve (12) inches on an average, or to grow in rank profusion upon such premises.

(c) It shall be the duty of any person, owner, agent, occupant or anyone having supervision or control of any lot, tract, parcel of land or a portion thereof, occupied or unoccupied, within the city, to remove or cause to be cut and removed all such grass, weeds, or plants as often as may be necessary to comply with subsections (a) and (b).

Residential Fence Permits" A permit is required for a new fence, replacing the posts, changing the height, or moving a fence from its current location. A permit and plan review is required for all Fences and Retaining Walls. A permit fee is due at submission of application."

Wooden screening shall be built with steel reinforced concrete footer which shall be four (4) inches above grade, four (4) inches below grade and a minimum six (6) inches wide. Footer shall have drainage holes as necessary. Screening poles shall be metal. All screening shall be uniform throughout individual subdivisions. Developments done in phases shall ensure that screening is complimentary in style and colors. -

Wooden screening shall be built with steel reinforced concrete footer which shall be four (4) inches in depth and a minimum six (6) inches wide. Footer shall have drainage holes as necessary. Screening poles shall be metal and set in concrete. All screening shall be uniform throughout individual subdivisions.
