STOP. City's Backflow Certification Test is NOT working.

Summary: The city's backflow certification test is not being applied equitably throughout the city and BSI is no longer managing the test for the city. So our plans for a discount are all on hold. In addition, I'm communicating with the city to determine their plans for the annual backflow certification test.

STOP. City's Backflow Certification Test is NOT working.

No sooner had I posted updated info on the MPE's backflow certification test discount program --

-- than I received and email from BSI indicating they are no longer managing the city's annual, backflow certiciation test program. (Sigh)

That means our MPE annual, backflow certification test discount program is on hold.

Two more issues have arisen.

First, even though BSI has confirmed, in writing, the 30 September 2023 due date of the twenty nine (29 MPE) residents who have registered for the discount, BSI is still sending out notices with incorrect dates. See the blog post link below for more information and what to do if you are registered for the discount and have received one of these incorrect notices. The short version is DO NOTHING.

Second, about half of our MPE residents have not received even one BSI backflow certification test notice (don't even know what we are talking about) and the other half are on our second year of paying up to $95 a year for the test. In addition, I can't find anyone else in any other neighborhood in Willow Park who has received an annual backflow certification test. But wait for it...

I wrote to the city to ask why and was told the employee who was responsible for updating the database has been too busy for the last several years to complete the job. (Yep, I have the direct quote in an email I sent to the city - below.)

Monday, I sent an email to the city and all of our elected officials requesting they pause the city's annual backflow certification test program until the city is applying the program equitably throughout the city. In addition, I requested a refund of all past payments I made for the annual backflow certification test.

As soon as I receive a reply, I will post and you can decide how to proceed. Until then, I plan to return to the city any notice of an annual backflow certification test and I plan to refuse to participate. But hey, that's just me...
